Appy now?

Here's one of the colorized versions of Russ Nicholson's incredible Fabled Lands illustrations that app publisher Megara Entertainment has conjured up for the forthcoming glorious hi-def reimagining of War-Torn Kingdom as a full-on 2D CRPG for the iPad. Zip over to Russ's blog if you want to see more gorgeous pics from that. And very soon we should have details of a new print edition of the FL books - and not just that. Ooh, just wait. You're going to think Christmas has come early.

  2. That looks great. BTW, I'd just like to thank you for replying to me when I sent you a letter as a nipper way back in 1995! You wrote the letter on a paper cover of FL book 4, so I got a sneak preview before the next two books were out, and I can't tell you how chuffed I was with that! I never really got over the Fabled Lands, which is as atmospheric a game-world as I've ever encountered, even aside from the free-form mechanics which I'd hoping somebody would come up with from my very first gamebook, so it's great to see that things might be moving again!

    Thanks again!

  4. Hi Andy - it was always a pleasure to hear from a young fan especially. I know how much that kind of thing meant to me when I was small.

  5. I love the series, the descriptive nature of the books coupled with the imagination behind it made them timeless. The eerie descriptions of the Underworld genuinely made the prospect of going there terrifying!

An iPad version has been mentioned but will this be transferable to PC? Is there plans for an iphone/ipod version?

  6. Hi Ross - there will be an iPhone/iPod version within a few months of the iPad version. No plans for PC at this stage, though.

  8. It's a miraculous feat, that's for certain. Lets not forget about the "and not just that" comment. Talk about a shock to the system!

  10. Ditto Alberto, Ditto. If and when the Fabled Lands series is completed, i'd be ecstatic! Even though i'm unemployed right now, i'd definitely splurge on the FL print editions. To Dave's future success!

Oh, and Dave. At my site www.mikemielke.mp, there is a post entitled PART2, where I mention Fabled Lands. That is a quick write-up on what we were talking about, but I have great aspirations and will definitely make it a whole lot better, if you would take a look.

One last thing, I hope the rights to www.fabledlands.com are acquired, as my firewall is blocking that website, which means that it is probably inappropriate. I hope that that Fabled Lands site doesn't sully the FL brand.

  11. Yes, now I can get the sixth. But I'll still have the rare first five.
